De La Salle University-Dasmariñas from Philippines joined IEA

From June 17 to 19, Dr. Johnny A. Ching, the dean of College of Science and Computer Studies, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D), led Dr. Maryli F. Rosas and Emelyn Mayuga to Taiwan and signed Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with Innovative Education Alliance (IEA). After signing the MOU, DLSU-D officially became a member of IEA. Besides discussing cooperation opportunities, they also participated in “Innovative Education Seminar”, which is supported by Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Institute for Information Industry. At the conference, they had shared what the Philippines needs for the smart education industry with Taiwanese manufacturers.

Faculty members of DLSU-D arrived in Taiwan on the evening of June 16, and signed the MOU with IEA at Digital Education Institute, Institute for Information Industry (DEI, III) on June 17. The MOU was signed by Dr. Johnny A. Ching, the dean of College of Science and Computer Studies, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) and I-Chang Tsai, the director of DEI, III. The opportunity of cooperation was captured by Hsin-Jung, Wu, the team leader at DEI, III and the project manager, Yen-Yin, Wang, who visited the Philippines at the end of May, 2019. They encouraged DLSU-D to make a return visit and join IEA.

DLSU-D is the first school in the Philippines to sign the MOU with IEA. Its vision and mission in fulfilling its commitment to provide quality education for all. DLSU-D is a leading institution nationally and globally in the integral formation of the youth by offering relevant, responsive, and community-oriented academic programs, research and extension services, and promoting a keen sense of history, arts and culture. The College of Science and Computer Studies imparts quality education to its students by equipping them with multiple levels of skills and knowledge in the Biological and Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science and Information Technology through relevant applications and research-based activities.

During their visit, DLSU-D was invited to “Innovative Education Seminar” to share the current status of smart education in the Philippines. They also visited Taiwan’s smart education industry and institutions such as Come to Learn, Brain Gym Center at III’s Taichung division, NTUE Maker Center and Sha Yang Ye Robot Wonderland, etc.

Cooperation with DLSU-D opens the partnership between IEA and the Philippine educational institutions. IEA will continue to coordinate with DLSU-D to run STEAM workshops, setting up local office to promote smart education in schools and discuss the feasibility of cooperation with Taiwanese manufacturers and the schools, educational institutions in the Philippines.
